Industry Benchmarks

Whether your 5% reply rate is good depends entirely on what you sell.

The problem this solves

You sent forty emails and got two replies. Is that good? You have no idea, because you have never run this before and every number on the internet is from a company with a sales team. So you cannot tell whether to change the message or send more of it.

What it does

Your reply rate, conversion rate and pipeline numbers are compared against the range for your product category. The point is not the score — it is knowing whether the fix is the message, the list, or nothing at all because you have simply not sent enough yet.

What you end up with

The output, not the description. This is what exists in your account after you use it.

  • Your reply, demo and close rates set against the range for your category.
  • A verdict on which lever to pull: the message, the list, or the volume.
  • The sample size at which your number starts meaning anything.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Pick your category

Developer tools, B2B SaaS, freelancer services, APIs, AI products and e-commerce each behave differently. A dev-tool reply rate is not a B2B SaaS reply rate.

  2. 2

    Log activity honestly

Benchmarks against incomplete logs produce confident nonsense. The comparison says when your sample is too small to read.

  3. 3

Read the lever, not the score

Below range on replies with a healthy open rate is a message problem. Below range on both is usually a list problem.
