Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about The Mark Platform.

Getting Started

What is The Mark Platform?

The Mark Platform is a guided go-to-market system built for developers. It walks you step by step through product definition, customer research, buyer persona creation, offer building, funnel mapping, and daily execution tracking — with the goal of helping you reach your first 100 paying customers.

Do I need marketing experience to use the platform?

Not at all. The platform is explicitly designed for developers with zero marketing background. Every form has explanations, real-world examples, and fill-in formulas. You follow the workflow and the system teaches you as you go.

What if I haven't launched my product yet?

That's actually the ideal time to start. The first modules — product definition and customer research — are designed to be completed before you launch. Working through them often reveals important insights that change what you build, saving you months of wasted effort.

How long does the 90-day plan take each day?

Most users spend 20–45 minutes per day on the platform. The execution log is designed to capture your daily marketing activities quickly, while the strategy-building modules (personas, offers, funnels) are done once upfront and refined over time.

Can I use this for a product that's already live?

Absolutely. Many users join after launching and getting little traction. The platform helps you diagnose what's missing — whether that's clearer positioning, a stronger offer, or more consistent outreach — and gives you a structured way to address it.

Features & Capabilities

What is the Buyer Persona Wizard?

The Buyer Persona Wizard is a 10-question guided form that helps you build a detailed profile of your ideal customer. It covers demographics, job role, key pain points, goals, buying triggers, objections, and preferred communication channels. The result is a rich persona document you can reference when writing copy or planning outreach.

What does the Offer Builder do?

The Offer Builder is a 5-step system that helps you craft a compelling offer. It walks you through naming your offer, defining the core outcome, pricing with proven formulas, structuring bonuses or guarantees, and writing a 1-sentence pitch. It's based on direct-response marketing principles adapted for SaaS and software products.

What are the templates for?

The template library includes 10+ pre-written frameworks covering cold email sequences, LinkedIn outreach messages, landing page copy structures, onboarding email scripts, Twitter/X content frameworks, demo call scripts, and more. Each template has instructions for how to customize it to your product and persona.

What learning modules are included?

The platform includes 4 structured learning modules: (1) Positioning & Messaging, (2) Outreach & Cold Email, (3) Content & Distribution, and (4) Metrics & Optimization. Each module contains 3 lessons with practical exercises that connect directly to the tools in the platform.

What is the Execution Log?

The Execution Log is a daily activity tracker where you log your marketing actions — emails sent, conversations started, demos booked, deals closed, and content published. This feeds your dashboard and makes your weekly metrics visible so you can spot patterns and course-correct early.

What does the dashboard show?

The dashboard shows your current position in the 90-day journey, weekly activity metrics, conversion ratios (emails → replies → demos → deals), experiment results, and progress toward your 100-customer goal. It's designed to give you a clear view of where you are and what to focus on next.

Is there a content calendar?

Yes. The content calendar lets you plan and schedule posts, emails, and outreach campaigns across your channels. You can see your entire marketing pipeline in one view, assign content to specific personas, and link content to your GTM plan milestones.

Can I run A/B tests on the platform?

Yes. The Experiment Tracker lets you define a hypothesis, set up variations, log results, and record learnings. It's designed for marketing experiments — testing subject lines, offer pricing, landing page copy, and outreach messages — not code.

Marketing Coach

What is the Marketing Coach?

The Marketing Coach is a personalized guidance engine available on the Pro plan ($10/month). It generates weekly action plans based on your product data, execution metrics, lifecycle stage, and industry benchmarks. Each week, you get 5-7 specific actions that tell you exactly what to do, on which platform, with which template, and targeting which persona.

How are the weekly action plans personalized?

The coaching engine analyzes your 8-step journey data (product, research, positioning, persona, offer, GTM plan, funnel, execution), your weekly metrics (emails sent, replies, meetings, deals), your lifecycle stage, and your product maturity score. Actions are specific to your situation — not generic advice. For example, "Post in r/webdev asking about [your specific pain point]" or "Send 10 cold emails to [your persona's job title]s."

What are platform playbooks?

Platform playbooks are step-by-step real-world marketing guides for 8 channels: cold email, Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News, Twitter/X, Product Hunt, IndieHackers, and Dev.to/Hashnode. Each playbook includes 4-5 steps with time estimates, tips, success criteria, and "when to pivot" triggers. All steps use template variables (like your product name and pain points) that get replaced with your actual data.

What are industry benchmarks?

The platform includes benchmark data for 6 product categories: developer tools, B2B SaaS, freelancer tools, API/infrastructure services, AI/ML tools, and e-commerce tools. Benchmarks cover cold email reply rates, conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, time-to-100-customers, and channel effectiveness. The coach auto-detects your category and tells you things like "Your 8% reply rate is above the 5% average for dev tools."

What is bottleneck diagnosis?

The coach analyzes your conversion funnel at 3 stages: outreach to reply, reply to meeting, and meeting to close. It identifies where leads are dropping off, compares your metrics to industry benchmarks, and provides numbered fixes. Each diagnosis includes a "if this doesn't work, try this instead" fallback recommendation.

How does streak tracking work?

The coach tracks your daily marketing activity streak. Every day you log at least one marketing activity (email, post, outreach), your streak grows. Like Duolingo for marketing — it keeps you consistent. Founders with 7+ day streaks see significantly higher response rates because consistency compounds.

Can I use the coaching data with my own AI tools?

Yes. The coaching dashboard includes a one-click "Export to AI" button that copies your full coaching context — product data, persona, metrics, benchmarks, and bottleneck diagnosis — ready to paste into Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini, or any LLM. Each platform playbook also includes a ready-to-use prompt for content generation. The MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration allows Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other MCP clients to access your coaching data programmatically.

Brand, Creatives & Ads

What is the brand identity feature?

A brand identity is a record per product holding your archetype, voice attributes, contrast pairs ("direct, but never blunt"), colours, typefaces and rules — words to use, words to avoid, and claims never to make, each with a severity and a reason. Every generated draft, email, ad and creative is written from it. Without it, generated copy comes back as the average of all marketing copy on the internet: fluent, accurate, and indistinguishable from a competitor's. You can also save on-brand and off-brand copy pairs, which teach a generator how you actually write far better than a list of adjectives.

Can the platform generate video ads?

Yes. There are 12 video templates across 5 funnel objectives, from a 6-second bumper to a 60-second explainer, and they are built from your brand identity, positioning, persona and offer. What you get is a complete Remotion project and one render command — the video renders on your own machine, not on our servers. That is deliberate: your brand data never reaches a video vendor, the finished MP4 is a file you own rather than a credit you spend, and rendering stays free for a solo founder or a team of up to three under Remotion's own licence.

Can it make images and carousels too?

Yes — Instagram and LinkedIn carousels, quote cards, stat cards, before/after cards, and the Open Graph link-preview image most founders never make. Every image ships with alt text written for that image, and each slide of a carousel gets its own: one alt text repeated across eight slides is worse than none. Images render on your machine the same way video does.

Will every creative look the same?

No, and that took work. Everything downstream of a brand record is otherwise a pure function of it, so the same template produced the same creative every time with different words in it. Each generation now draws an art-direction route and one or two constraints from a deck, so two creatives from one template come back different. The draw can only move things your brand already records — it never introduces a colour you do not have, never writes a new claim, and never relaxes contrast, safe areas or the type floor. You can turn it off if you are holding one look across a launch.

Can I run ads from the platform?

You can preview a campaign in full — targeting, copy, budget, estimated spend — and then create it on Meta Ads or Google Ads. Everything is created PAUSED and spends nothing until you resume it, and write actions require your own per-platform permission. You can pause, resume and re-budget live campaigns, with guardrails checked first. The platform also sets up a Meta Pixel and gives you the exact snippet with one event block per funnel stage already filled in.

How does funnel drop-off tracking work?

Map each stage of your funnel to a real analytics event in GA4, Firebase or PostHog, and the platform reads per-stage user counts, conversion rates and abandonment instead of guessing. It will also suggest a funnel built from the events your product already sends, and audit your setup for the reasons analytics shows totals but no journeys — only first_open marked as a key event, a login_start with no matching success event, or custom dimensions that were never registered.

What is the founder diary?

A day-by-day record of what you did and what it achieved. It has two halves that never mix: activity, completed steps, achievements, leads and metrics are captured from the platform, and what you did, what blocked you and your energy are yours to write. Empty days are shown rather than hidden, because a gap is information and it is what a streak breaks on. At 7, 30, 180 and 365 days you can generate a milestone report and download it as a PDF.

Does the platform use my API key or its own?

Yours. Connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or ElevenLabs account and text, image and speech generation runs through it — tokens are billed to you at cost rather than resold as credits, and nothing you write is relayed through a model you did not choose. The platform holds no API key of its own, for any provider, on any plan. If you have nothing connected you are not blocked: you get a complete, production-ready prompt you can paste into any AI tool instead of an error.

Pricing & Plans

What does the free plan include?

The free plan includes 1 product, 1 buyer persona, 1 offer, 5 templates, 50 execution log entries, access to all learning modules, and the basic dashboard. It's fully functional and a great way to experience the workflow before committing.

What's included in the Pro plan?

The Pro plan ($10/month) includes the Marketing Coach (personalized weekly action plans, platform playbooks, industry benchmarks, bottleneck diagnosis, streak tracking), 3 products, 10 personas, 10 offers, all templates, unlimited execution logs, MCP agent integration, integrations, campaigns and ad campaign creation, video and image creatives, content calendar, experiment tracker, and priority support.

What's the Agency plan for?

The Agency plan ($60/month) is for consultants and agencies running several client products at once. It includes unlimited products, personas, offers and funnels, 5 team seats with per-project access, agency workspaces that keep each client's brand and metrics separate, the full REST API and the highest MCP rate limits, and a dedicated support contact.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your plan will remain active until the end of the billing period. No lock-ins, no cancellation fees.

Do you offer refunds?

At checkout you can either subscribe straight away or start 30 free days before the first charge — a card is required either way, and you can cancel during the trial without being charged. Pro also carries a 14-day money-back guarantee: if you do not have your positioning, persona and first outreach plan within 14 days, you get a full refund.

Is there a discount for annual billing?

Yes. Annual plans save you 2 months compared to monthly billing. Annual Pro is $100/year (vs $120 monthly). Contact us or check the billing section in your account settings.

Technical & Account

How do I sign up?

Click "Get Started Free" on any page. You can sign up with your email address or via Google or Facebook OAuth. Email verification is required before accessing the platform.

Is my data secure?

Data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS, and stored integration credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. We use httpOnly session cookies with hashed tokens, CSRF protection on form submissions, a Content Security Policy, rate limiting on sign-in, and dependency vulnerability audits. You can see exactly what we hold and control how it is used in your Privacy Centre. We never sell your data to third parties.

Can I export my data?

Yes. You can export your personas, offers, research notes, execution logs, and other data from your account settings page in JSON or CSV format.

Does the platform work on mobile?

The platform is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers. Some of the complex form views (funnel mapper, content calendar) are optimized for desktop but remain functional on mobile.

Is there an API?

Yes. There is a documented REST API at /api/docs, and an MCP server exposing every capability as a tool. Both are available from the Pro plan; the Agency plan raises the rate limits. You can also push your marketing context to a webhook endpoint — n8n, Make, Zapier or your own service — on a schedule or on demand.

What are the agency-grade audits?

Three scored reports with findings graded critical, high, medium, low or pass, and a prioritised list of what to do about each. The website audit covers tracking, SEO, calls to action, trust signals, lead capture, whether your copy matches your own positioning and persona pain points, and how the offer is presented — plus a raw-HTML pass over meta tags, semantic structure, heading hierarchy and alt coverage. The competitive audit covers SWOT completeness, feature parity, price position, channel gaps and whether your differentiation is defensible. The journey audit runs over your own data: field completeness, contradictions between steps, execution velocity, channel concentration risk and conversion readiness.

Can I control what the platform does with my data?

Yes, purpose by purpose. Coaching, analytics, AI generation, diary analysis and the rest are separate permissions in the Privacy Centre, which sits beside Settings rather than buried inside it. Nothing is pre-ticked. Revoking a purpose stops the processing and deletes what that purpose produced — and tells you what was deleted and what was kept. It never deletes what you wrote: turning off analysis of your diary removes the derived reports, not your entries.

What is the MCP integration?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools access external data. The Mark Platform's MCP server exposes your marketing data (product, personas, positioning, metrics, coaching plans) as tools that Claude Desktop, Cursor IDE, and other MCP-compatible clients can use. This means you can say "help me write a cold email" to Claude and it will use your actual persona and positioning data. Available on Pro and Agency plans.

Will there be a mobile app?

A companion mobile app is planned for the future, designed around the coaching experience — daily action cards, streak tracking, quick activity logging (2 taps), and push notifications. Think Duolingo, but for marketing. The coaching API endpoints are already designed for mobile consumption.
